Dating safety

Curiosity should never outrun consent.

Practical safety guidance for introductions, video messages, conversations and meeting in person.

Last updated July 30, 2026

Before connecting

  • Keep legal identity, address, workplace and financial information private until trust is established.
  • Never send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, banking credentials or identity documents to someone you met through UpCliq.
  • Be cautious when someone pressures you to leave the platform immediately, avoids reasonable verification or creates an urgent financial story.

Video messages

Video messages must be optional, short, consent-based and available only in an appropriate connection context. Do not record or redistribute another person’s video without clear permission. Sexual content, threats, humiliation, impersonation and synthetic media presented as authentic are prohibited.

Meeting in person

  • Meet in a populated public place and arrange your own transportation.
  • Tell a trusted person where you are going and when you expect to return.
  • Keep your phone charged and avoid becoming impaired.
  • Leave if you feel pressured or unsafe. You do not owe anyone politeness at the expense of safety.

Consent

Consent must be freely given, informed, specific, ongoing and reversible. Past consent, a match, flirting, travel, gifts or alcohol do not create future consent. A person who is unconscious, incapacitated or unable to understand cannot consent.

Separate Dating identity

Dating profiles and Dating connections are isolated from Friendship, Networking, Events and other UpCliq experiences. UpCliq does not reveal, recommend or connect another identity through Dating. A member may personally choose to share a username, profile link or outside contact information in a private conversation. That choice is voluntary and does not verify the recipient or make off-platform communication an UpCliq service.

Controlled access

Dating normally becomes eligible after an account has been active for 90 days. Eligibility does not automatically publish a Dating profile: the member must separately activate Dating, complete its private setup and choose to become discoverable. UpCliq may grant earlier controlled-pilot access after administrative review.

Dating-only enforcement

UpCliq may suspend, reinstate or revoke Dating access based on reports, safety risk, behaviour history or eligibility requirements. A Dating restriction does not automatically suspend Networking, Friendship, Events or other experiences. Serious or platform-wide misconduct may still result in broader account action under the Terms and Community Standards.

Report or block

Block unwanted contact and report behaviour that may endanger you or others. Preserve relevant messages or details if safe to do so. During the controlled pilot, you may also email support@upcliq.net with “Dating safety report” in the subject line. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services. UpCliq is not an emergency-response service.

Global guidance, local help

Emergency and victim-support services differ by country. UpCliq will add country-aware safety resources before targeted launch in each market.
